Nora ABS 'clippity clip' battery box (standard battery pack)

Standard 'clippity clip' Nora 4 battery box, for 3.7v Nora li-ion battery packs, as available with Nora 4 lamp sets.

Updated design (Nov 2024), now manufactured from ABS. Light weight 90g (excluding battery pack). Helmet mounting. Robust, waterproof construction, should stand up to plenty of caving, see note below*.

Suitable for simple Nora 3.7v 1s2p 7Ah battery packs using two 18650 li-ion cells side by side with JST connector. Could similarly be used with a 2s1p 7.4v battery packs, if you have a requirement for this voltage!

LH (left hand) cable gland standard version suitable for Edna / Nora lamps. Nora lamp cable dia 4.8mm, but should cope with a range of cable diameters approx 3-5mm (suitable gland sealant is never a bad idea depending on cable used).

RH (right hand) cable gland version also available, well suited to conversion of original Petzl Duo to 1s2p 3.7v li-ion battery pack. see guidance

Nora ABS 'clippity clip' battery box (individual 18650 batteries) New for 2025.

Alternative 3.7v Nora battery box, for use with individual 18650 batteries.

Designed for use with 2x 18650 protected 18650 batteries in parallel at 3.7v (batteries up to 69mm). Two 3.5Ah batteries will equate to 7Ah total, at 3.7v. We do not recommend using unprotected 18650 batteries. Do so at your own risk. The battery cage has a fuse which will blow and provide a level of protection should you inadvertently fit one battery the wrong way around and cause a direct short. If you do so, the holder will then operate from one batttery only, and fuse / holder will need to be replaced when convenient. It is good practice to charge and discharge batteries as matched pairs. Will run quite happily from one battery if required to !!

Manufactured from ABS. Light weight 130g (excluding batteries). Helmet mounting. Robust, waterproof construction, should stand up to plenty of caving, see note below*. It should be noted that battery bounce is a common characteristic of boxes that accommodate individual batteries subject to impact, resulting in momentary disconnection of batteries / loss of power. The box has been designed to mitigate this as much as possible, but could occur with a severe impact. In reality, this is pretty much a non issue, but important to flag up as we have no control over exactly what batteries you use.

7.4v Nora battery box (individual 18650 batteries).

The same as the 3.7v battery box (above), except the battery cage has been configured for 7.4v applications!! 2x18650 individual li-ion batteries in series. 2x18650 3.7v 3.5Ah batteries in series equates to 7.4v 3.5Ah total capacity.

For 7.4v lamps only! Not suitable for use with Little Monkey lamps or CustomDuo modules.

Alternative 3.7v Nora battery box, for use with an individual 21700 batteries, 5-6Ah typ.

Designed for use with 1x 21700 protected battery (up to 75mm). 21700 batteries are typically available at 5Ah (with 6Ah batteries now appearing). A lot of capacity, and run time if used with the right lamp!

Manufactured from ABS. Light weight 115g (excluding battery, typ. 70g). Helmet mounting. Robust, waterproof construction, should stand up to plenty of caving, see note below*. Nora ABS battery box - bolt down lid (standard battery pack)

Alternative 'entry level' Nora 4 battery box arrangement, with bolt down lid using anodised alloy thumb nuts or stainless hex screws, as preferred. Our most cost effective Nora box.

Manufactured from ABS, with same high quality finish as the standard Nora 4 'clippity clip' battery box. Light weight 85g (excluding battery pack). Helmet mounting. Robust, waterproof construction, should stand up to plenty of caving, see note below*.

Edna alloy battery box (individual 18650 battery)

Single 18650 3.7v aluminium anodised helmet mounting battery box, with updated battery holder for a single 18650 li-ion battery. Can accomodate either a protected battery (typically 69mm long) or unprotected battery (65mm long). Edna battery box

Helmet fixing, old skool, using shock cord (included). Battery box has cable gland suitable for Edna / Nora lamp cable dia 4.8mm, but should cope with a range of cable diameters approx 3-5mm (suitable gland sealant is never a bad idea depending on cable used).

A neat li-ion conversion for the original Petzl Duo!! Soldering is required to connect lamp cable to the circuit board in cable gland end of battery box.

Edna battery holder upgrade kit

If you already have an Edna box, the new battery holder is available as a DIY kit. This can be retrofitted to the Edna battery box to conveniently accomodate a single 3.7v 18650 battery, protected (typically 69mm long) or unprotected (typically 65mm long). Kit includes the battery holder and the cable connecting circuit board. Soldering is required to connect lamp cable to the circuit board in cable gland end of battery box.

Note, this adaption is not compatible with the Edna battery packs if you're currently using these, as there is no space available in box for the JST connector. Edna screw top lid shown in last photo for illustration of connection in to box, not included.
