Little Monkey caving lamps

Little monkey (Filthy Edna / Rude Nora) have a standard 1 year warranty against defects in material and manufacture. If your product or accessories fails to operate to specification during the warranty period we will arrange for your product to be repaired or at our discretion replaced. This warranty is subject to reasonable wear and tear (in our opinion) and correct use and maintenance of the product as applicable. We will not provide warranty repair / replacement if the problem, in our opinion, resulted from use outside the product specification, modifications or alterations, incorrect connection, operation or fitting where applicable, external damage due to accident, impact/ abrasion, poor storage, poor maintenance, use of non approved parts, wear and tear parts (e.g. edna / Nora front window). We will always endeavour to keep any costs due to damage to an absolute minimum.

Little Monkey lamps have been designed to operate effectively in a hostile environment, i.e. caves, and be as robust / reliable / practical as possible for this purpose. As a consequence it will get battered and while we appreciate that it is entirely feasible to break things occasionally, any such damage is beyond the scope of the product warranty. Expect to pay for any damage related repairs. Battery packs in particular are sensitive and subject to damage from misuse, impact, temperature and most significantly water ingress / moisture. Although in reality fairly robust (we see very few failures), battery packs / chargers are only covered by warranty if defects in materials or manufacture can be demonstrated to our satisfaction. Edna / Nora battery packs / chargers are professionally manufactured, and as distributers we will only undertake very minor repairs to these items. E.g. we may replace a damaged connector, but will not open a charger or battery pack to exchange a moisture damaged protection circuit. Your safety is our priority. Any physical damage to battery pack wires, cable connectors and wires, is not covered by warrranty, and lamps should not be used until repaired.

Using li-ion batteries requires a level of care, and is not without risk. Do not use our products not able to accept this risk. Take special care to ensure that the lamp cable, battery box leads and battery leads are not damaged, especially when fitting batteries into battery box etc. Never use damaged batteries or battery box / holder with damaged leads. Failure to do so could present a serious safety risk and damage to batteries. Battery box /battery holder cabling is designed to be readily maintainable, and should be replaced if defective. Battery chargers will get warm in operaton. Use with appropriate care, and charge batteries in a fire safe environment and under supervision. Important - Battery polarity (marked on battery holders) must be strictly observed. Failure to do so could potentially cause short circuit and damage to batteries.

An additional note of caution if using individual unprotected li-ion batteries! We can not under emphasis the degree of care required if using unprotected batteries. Li-ion batteries store a lot of energy when fully charged, which can be released very rapidly in event of failure. Never use batteries with damaged outer sheath. Keep a careful and continuous watch on condition of the battery skin, especially close to the positive terminal. If necessary add an additional skin (battery specific heat shrink). Always use two cells in Nora battery holders to avoid short if placed in contact with conductive surface.  Take special care when fitting battery in to a battery holder, most particularly at the positive end of the battery, which is very close to the negative battery casing. Ensure that positive button of battery is properly aligned and located centrally on positive terminal of battery holder (Best practice is to orientate positve end of battery in to holder first, followed by negtive end). If battery skin is damaged and battery is not inserted fully and properly, and without due care, it is possible to effect a short circuit between the battery +ve and -ve case*. This will almost certainly result in the battery flaming / catasphopic battery failure. On a practical level, any indication of a short circuit (e.g. sparking) when inserting a battery into a holder, immediately remove battery. Failing this, then step well clear. Care of and use of unprotected batteries is entirely at your own responsibility and risk.

(* Most likely to be an issue between the positive battery connection and the -ve batttery case, for both unprotected and protected cells. Protection circuits on protected cells, or circuits built on to our battery holders do not gaurd against a short in this area).
